While featuring mild rapids, the Upper New River is no boring trip but an exciting family adventure. The relative calmness gives you the chance to soak in the beauty of the New River Gorge, the surrounding wilderness while presenting many opportunities to jump in the waters of the New River for a swim. Depending on the water levels you may choose to be guided in a raft or navigate the rapids yourself in a “ducky”, a one or two person inflatable kayak.
